The Skinny

Flag Football 3/17/08

Well after another 4-1 week the overall record goes to 24-6.  Not bad as this week I start to handicap.  Please, no betting as these lines are only good on game days.  Onto the games...

Game 1 – Storm v Monaghan House

Will the House complete the perfect regular season?  The answer of course is yes.  After crushing a would be Dynasty team last game QB Metuchen is looking for more bodies to step on in Middlesex County.  This week they will be able to work over the Storm.  This team needs Wolverine, Gambit and maybe even Cyclops this week to find a win as they are still looking for a starting quarterback.  Maybe Gene Gray can field the position and will the football into receivers hands because it seems only CJ Haines and a couple of Teal brothers are having a good season.  I am just wondering if one Greco will surpass the 100 point mark this week or have to wait for the playoffs.  Monaghan House +16.

Game 2 – Mile High v Rebels

It looks like we have finally a game for first place with all the marbles on the table. The Rebels won their first match-up but, by only six points and that was a long time ago...just ask Abe how much weight he has lost since then.  This time around we are looking for another shootout and several ball fakes from the sheik of the deke – Almog.  Arriving with very little fanfare this season was Tim Fleming who has all but, taken over the possession receiver title for this team, so someone should be in lockdown mode on defense against him.  Meanwhile, the Great Pumpkin has risen for the Rebels and his name is Marcus as only he can carry this team to the promised land, with his oversized hands and blowout jersies.  Here’s hoping he shows up on time – Rebels +4

Game 3 – Light Speed v Spartans

Well, now that Light Speed has found a speedy quarterback, can they get off the schneid against the Spartans?  Being the doormats of the division is tough enough but playing ironman football on top of that is even harder.  Geiger has assembled quite a team with his boys from the hood including DJ Khaled himself.  If everyone shows for the Spartans, and of course they will with all of their girlfriends and their friends as well, Light Speed better switch into warp drive to get any points in this one.  – Spartans +12

Game 4 – Dynasty v Hitmen

Here we go again with two teams going in opposite directions.  After throwing a new game high interception record last game, the Dynasty team will surely be licking their wounds.  Hopefully someone on the team will wear the pants of the family this week and take control of the offense.  On the other side Sean has all of his Chiefs working hard but, may need a few Indians to seal the deal.  This group now includes the players finally wearing team uniforms Kerv and Gregory.  It nice to see that they retired the other shirts – p.s. radio – never wear mesh again.  Meanwhile on the other side of the ball Coppola hopes his passes do better than his checks and make it into sufficient hands.  His defense however seems a bit overworked and overdrawn. – Hitmen +22

Game 5 – Do Work v Wrecking Crew

Well, if the Crew wanted a game where they could simply show up as it didn’t matter in the standings, they sure got one tonight.  I can see Ernst taking a game off and letting Tats run the squad; Not!  The Crew has never and will never take a game off – they even got into fights in a consolation and pre-season game in the past.  With personal records on the table and All-Conference Teams being announced soon, hopefully the Workers will have a chance to shine.  However, their work is still not done for this season as several key components need to show up in order for this team to surprise.  When every other team picked up players this team stood pat with theirs and that may have cost them.  Look for their quarterback to return soon as well, as this long season also allows for healing.  It may help tonight to keep it close but the Crew will wreck someone else’s dream   – Wrecking Crew +6
