The Skinny

Flag Football 2/18/08

After a couple of weeks of vacation, my record holds at 11-4. Onto this weeks games with only one team having a balance remaining.   To all teams: Make sure you start saving up for the spring session as three teams are already in!

Game 1 – Spartans v First Round Draft Picks

Off of the oldest legs at quarterback in the division, the Spartans have come back to rise to another win last week, knocking off rival Mile High. Emerging from the ashes they look to this game to finally get back to .500.  Standing in their way however is one the biggest hair bands from the 80-‘s – Aldo Nova, who when he is on can turn a game inside out.  You also have to watch out for the Spalliero triplets, one nastier than the other; one runs, one throws, and one pulls.  Maybe Geiger’s early season prediction that this team is gonna be sick may come true as they send the Rounders right down Bourbon Street. – Spartans 26, First Round 22.

Game 2 – Light Speed v Rebels

These matchups are nerver good, and rarely even close.  When they first met, it was a blow-out and nothing has changed since, except of course Richie’s brother can catch now and Abe might have gained a pound or twenty.  However, if the Speeders do show up, and I mean at least lets get the game played, they hopefully scouted their local high school and brought most of the team to play.  Not even Peter O’Toole could have forecasted how bad this Camelot is going to crash and burn -  Rebel 56, Light Speed 14

Game 3 – Dynasty v Millertime

Now that Nick has several personal items off his mind, and his boys have started to make others pay and I don’t mean with their checkbooks, we may see the team that came out their first game to spank the Miller boys.  You would think, with all of that athletic talent, and another set of Bone triplets, they would dominate but, such is life for expansion teams here.   Hopefully someone on the team besides all-world lineman George S. can make an impact to turn this game and team around.  With the addition of the Untouchables; and I’m not talking Elliot Ness and the boys, its tough to pick against them– Dynasty 30, Millertime 28

Game 4 – Men o War v Wrecking Crew

It seems like just yesterday that these guys were yelling at each other every play. Whose better at QB, whose the best receiver, who can punch the ref the hardest, sorry Bandwagon had to slip that one in.  Either way it seems that one quarterback is winless against the other in this war and that may have to change.  If both teams show up with full rosters, as with any rivalry they usually do, it could be War out there, Man of War that is.  This game could also be won by line play as to see who gets the better rush and who gets more time.  Someone may have to have the biggest sack of the game, and I’m not talking anatomically but, in football terms, and it will be big if it happens on the last drive in the last minute – So you hearing me Mitches... -  Wrecking Crew 44, Men o War 38

Game 5 – Hitmen v Storm

Finally, a nice quiet game among two teams that have respect and admiration for each other – NOT.  After getting shellacked their first meeting, the Storm have gone out and purchased nicer t-shirts with numbers and have one win in the next three games.  The Hitmen on the other hand have turned in quite a season as with the win they can guarantee their first .500 season in franchise history.  How about that Shawn – for all you have done and worked on it is about time.  However standing in their way this time is Chewy and the boys who  may have found a quarterback last week and a receiver in CJ.  No less I’m banking on hearing Crank That several times tonight Yu!– Hitmen 30, Storm 20
